How to Paint a Room

I am fond of rooms that have large panels of color with white molding. I have haphazardly painted a lot of rooms and below you will learn the easiest way to get some color on your wall (otherwise known as learn from my mistakes)
1. Get your supplies.
a few, 3 or 4, rollers
an extension rod
blue tape (3 or 4 rolls)
white primer
the base wall color. Buy 1 can more than you think it will need to paint the room (s) because it’s better to have some left over than to run out and that way you have some to keep for touch-ups.
white paint people will tell you one is better than the other, but if we are being honest white paint is white paint so go cheap if you want to.
2. move all of your furniture to the middle of the room and throw some sheets that you don’t mind throwing away over it. Or some tarp, whatever…
3. You are going to “cut in” the walls first so put the blue tape as close as you can along the top ledge of the base board. Use your nail (or a butter knife or spatula) to press the tape as flat as possible
4. If your walls already have color paint the edges with a thick coat of primer. It is okay of you get it on the tape but make sure that the color of the wall does’t bleed through.
5. Paint the wall with the primer once you have “cut in” the primer.
6. Wait about 2 and 1/2 hours (if you can) to go to the next step
7. Go all around the edges of the room putting the best coat possible of your wall color. I always imagine it as a frame for some reason so make the thickest sold frame possible.

Once you have the room “cut in” your ready to paint the wall.

Letting the Universe know I am ready for what it’s about to deliver

Oh Universe, you really know how to charm a girl

I asked the Universe for a sign and out of nowhere standing next to the Burger King is a man playing the harmonica. He didn’t play for long, but it was long enough to catch my attention.

So Far So Good 2011

So far this year I have been having a pretty amazing time. Some good stuff going on at work and hanging out with friends, new resturant Owen & Engine entered my life. Good movies, art and good times.
The only thing that has continued to be elusive is love. But my gut is telling me that is temporary and L’Amour is on it’s way.
I had my tarot cards read at the end of last year and part of the reading said that someone who is pale, looks different all the time even in regular clothes and is surrounded by books alot of the time is the right one for me. My mother said after the new year and to not be “bull headed.” I am hoping that a gin, truth telling, and the sometimes bad PR of the facebook didn’t ruin my chances, but we shall see. Universe I am leaving this one up to you…

down down cities fall down on me

Despite the bumpy ride I see light ahead…

I won’t get into it here but this year y’all. This year… I promise next year will be better! Full of fun times and light airy moments that will make you wonder what it was like to be down. 2011 will make you appreciate the fact that you made it through 2010. The loss, the false starts, the disappointments, endings and goodbyes. Next year (nice year) will be the time that we say “I can’t believe how good life can be!!!” and ride off into the sunset. Treasures found, great food, better music, film that makes you think tomorrow, books that make you …whatever you want them to, feelings of kindness, warmth in the winter, bursts of cool air in summer, great art (so much stuff to look at), things that make you laugh (belly laugh), new shit that makes you go W.O.W.! I love that or I want to try that, lights blinking on your cell phone that are to doorways to messages that will make you feel missed/loved, work promotions, great clothes, comfy shoes, a hand to hold, sleeping in, meeting people, hugs & kisses and more much much more. It’s almost here. And it’s going to be good… so good!
